CHUG has a long history of community work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the group was formed in the early 80s ownership of the basin was unclear and no rents due. Members\u2019 contributions were used  for charitable projects, including the  recruitment of an educational worker. Based at Laburnum Boat Club, our earliest partnership, the trained teacher introduced local children to the history & ecology of the canal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We continue to have strong links with Laburnum Boat Club, with representatives on their committees and support of the club\u2019s work with finical and other donations (canoes are popular), as well as hands-on help with events and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also liaise on a day-to-day basis with residents around the basin, continuous cruisers along the towpath, business, studios, and neighbouring organisations. We link with gardening and bee keeping groups,\u00a0London Boaters<\/a>, Friends of Regents Canal<\/a>, and the Canal Museum<\/a> to name but a few.\u00a0We\u00a0regularly take part in cleanup days, organise and facilitate boat trips, and host events for local youth groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
